Subject: Kashmir Martyrs’ Day Observed in Manila

The 89th Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Martyr’s Day) was observed at the Pakistan Embassy in Manila on 13 July 2020. The Embassy solemnly observed Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, due to restrictions imposed because of COVID-19. One minute silence was observed by the Embassy officials to commemorate the martyrdom of 22 Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives on this day 89 years ago by the Dogra Forces in 1931.
The Charge d’Affaires highlighted the significance of this Day. She expressed the support of the People and Government of Pakistan for the Kashmiri people and their continued struggle for their right to self-determination. She paid tribute to the generations of Kashmiris’ who laid down their lives fighting for freedom from occupying forces. The Charge d’Affaires said that the gross human rights violations in the IOJ&K especially after India’s illegal action of 05 August 2019, remained a big challenge to the conscience of the international community and needed to be stopped. One minute silence was observed to pay respect to the martyred Kashmiris.
While condemning the state-terrorism being perpetrated by Indian occupation forces in IOJ&K. Charge d’Affaires reiterated that the Government and people of Pakistan will continue to stand by kashmirirs till the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolutions.
