Ambassador Dr. Asima Rabbani

Dr. Asima Rabbani currently is the Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of the islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Philippines. She previously held the position of Director General (SIFC & Economic Diplomacy) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this, she served as Director General (OIC & Economic Diplomacy).

Her most recent overseas assignment was as Deputy High Commissioner at the High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra. She has also been posted to New Zealand and Jordan. At the Headquarters, she worked in the Europe, Americas, Afghanistan, Middle East, and Training & Career Planning Directorates.

Dr. Rabbani holds a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. Her thesis focused on the United Nations’ collective security architecture and the challenges posed by nihilist non-state actors. She has presented her research at academic conferences in Australia, Great Britain, and Italy. During her doctoral studies, she also tutored and lectured undergraduates at UNSW Canberra.
Dr. Rabbani joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1998.
